Ambassador Sun Gongyi Attends the Ceremony of the Ancestral Worship of the New Year in Guandi Temple, Mauritius

On February 16th, the Guandi Temple in Mauritius held a ceremony to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Mauritius Vice President Vyapoori, Minister of Culture Roopun, Minister of Social Integration Alain Wong, Chinese Ambassador Sun Gongyi of Mauritius, and Embassy's Cultural Counselor Song Yanqun attended the ceremony.  

Built in 1842, the Guandi Temple in Mauritius is the largest and oldest Chinese temple in Mauritius history. As an important ancestor and gathering place for local Chinese, the festival will be held during the Spring Festival and Guandi's birthday. Guandi Temple is now listed on Mauritius National Heritage List.
